1. What made you want to go into veterinary medicine?
My parents moved to the country when I was 7 so I could have a horse. We ended up with 5 horses, 2 goats, a pig and 5 dogs. I loved animals and my parents were great about me having them. They really instilled in me the idea that we have responsibility to take care of the animals with whom we spend our lives.
2. Tell us one of your most inspiring stories working with animals.
I practice small animal medicine now, but I owned an equine exclusive practice for 15 years. The thing that still amazes me is birth. You have this 1200 pound animal that has only has 20 minutes to give birth and it is usually a smooth process! And within an hour the foal is actually standing on its own and nursing. It is an incredible thing to witness.
3.What is your MBA focusing on?
My MBA is focusing on entrepreneurship. Peninsula Veterinary Services is actually my 3rd business since I graduated from vet school.
